El estadio fue inaugurado el 24 de febrero de 1929 con un partido entre el Club Atl\u00e9tico Lan\u00fas y Boca Juniors, que termin\u00f3 con una victoria de Boca por 2-0.<\/p>\n<p>Nestor D\u00edaz P\u00e9rez moderniz\u00f3 la vieja fortaleza granate para convertirla en el estadio de avanzada que hoy lleva su nombre.
